Getting that Flawless Skin
A Facial with Bijou Beauty
To be honest, I haven’t had a ton of facials over the years but since my last experience, I think I’m going to make this a regular thing. I visited Bijou Beauty and received their ‘Red Carpet Ready’ facial which was done by their amazing esthetician, Lauren.
It’s so nice when you have someone who really is passionate about skin and her clients! This facial is called ‘Red Carpet Ready’ because you can get the facial and then head out that evening for a big event because it leaves you feeling so rejuvenated… A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
With this particular facial, they use lactic acid which helps refresh and revitalize the skin. This type of treatment increases moisture, stimulates collagen and elastin, giving you a more youthful look. This amazing package has it all; oxygen, ultrasonic skin refiner, mesotherapy, hot and cold press, LED light therapy, and more!
Receiving any beauty treatment can be a little on the overwhelming side if you’re not familiar with the terminology. I’ve taken the time to break it all down for you step-by-step so there’s no confusion if you decide to try one.
RED CARPET FACIAL
Cleanser- A gentle wash to remove all makeup and dirt from your face.
Steamer- The steam hydrates the skin by increasing oil production and naturally moisturizes the face. It also helps your skin absorb skincare products more effectively.
Bio Elements Mask- It’s made up of measured micro grains which exfoliate and buff the skin. It has amazing ingredients like jojoba beads, pore-refining, oil-balancing ingredients, plus an invigorating and strengthening blend of plant extracts as well as essential oils, that leave the skin feeling refreshed.
Hot Towel- Relaxed for a few minutes, and then Lauren removed the mask.
Balancing Equalizer Spray- This is a hydrating facial toner which balances and preps the skin for moisturizer. This delivers the necessary hydration to rebalance and nourish just-cleaned skin. My skin has been particularly dry since having Chase, so I actually purchased this product and so far, it seems to have helped control the bit of eczema I had under my eye.
Papaya Enzyme Mask- This mask was completely gentle; it’s designed to safely remove spent skin cells, without stressing or scratching your skin like other exfoliant masks. Lauren used an ultrasonic brush which helped to work the mask into my skin making it more effective. After letting this sit for several minutes, Lauren gently cleared off the mask in preparation for the next step.
Balancing Equalizer Spray- This was used again to calm the skin and hydrate.
Lauren applied a gel to my face so their ‘sonic skin refiner’ tool could move around smoothly on my face. This step helps remove debris that’s in the pores, and helps smooth everything out.
Lauren then blended a customized serum that had anti-inflammatory properties (for my rosacea) which was super hydrating and perfect for my skin type.
She then pushed the ingredients into the skin with the ‘ultrasonic skin refiner’ tool.
An LED light mask was used next, this helps improve collagen growth, calms skin, reduces redness and inflammation on the cellular level.
The cold press machine was then used to seal the skin to help give a porcelain-like appearance (if you have sensitive skin, this would also help calm everything down).
skin tips from the beauty expert to you:
Drink more water!
LED light is good if you have rosacea (like me) or suffer from redness.
After a facial, it usually takes two to fourteen days to see the effects of the facial.
When applying lotion, always start with the lightest product and work your way to the heaviest;
Example: -Lightest Product: Balancing equalizer spray Middle product: Are usually oils. -Thickest product: Would be a thick cream and should be applied last.
SKINCARE FACIAL RESULTS
I’m not sure if this particular facial will be another skincare trend or if it will be around for years to come, but I can honestly say it was an incredibly relaxing and beneficial experience. A week after the facial I really started noticing results of smoother, healthier-looking skin. My skin was finally hydrated and it hasn’t felt like this in ages, so I feel more confident in my happy skin.
DON’T FORGET TO GIVE SOME LOVE TO YOUR SKIN
I know it’s easy to get busy and caught up in day-to-day life, but I think it’s so important for everyone to make some time for self-love. This is the perfect chance to have some down-time from your hectic life and to also give some well-deserved attention to your skin.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU GET A FACIAL
Skincare specialists actually recommend that people receive a professional facial about once a month. That's how long it takes your skin to move through a full cycle of skin cell growth and exfoliation. Receiving a facial regularly will help that process along, and the treatment will keep your skin clean, clear, and toned. If the experts say it’s the way to go, then I’m investing my money into my skin! I want to look as fresh as possible for as long as possible (lol)!
If you haven’t tried a facial yet, please don’t wait any longer. If it is the money that’s holding you back, facials aren’t actually that pricey. Be a smart consumer and shop around online (Yelp has honest reviews from customers) and start with a basic facial. A basic facial can range anywhere from $60 to $120 depending on where you’re getting one. If you’re in the West Hollywood area, I highly recommend visiting Bijou Beauty and seeing Lauren for a treatment. Again, she’s super gentle and her prices are exceptionally reasonable for the quality of her facials.
Happy Skin, Happy Heart!
